Criminal Court
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
Criminal Court begins at 8:30 a.m.
Probation office hours: are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and Thursday 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon.
Payments on fines and time pays may be made during business hours listed for each department.
The Criminal Clerks:
- Transfer arrest records from the police docket and
make daily entries in the Judge’s docket book.
- Prepare and organize docket sheets, jail lists, bond
hearings and other documents for scheduling trials
- Provide assistance to the Judge during Court
(administering oaths and/or swearing in witnesses)
- Maintain records of daily Courtroom activities
- Provide information to callers and answer correspondence regarding Criminal Court matters
District Court (formerly Municipal Court) adjudicates misdemeanor charges only. According to Arkansas State capital statute, District Courts cannot adjudicate any felony charges.
All felony charges enter the District Court for plea and setting of bond. The District Court may also handle bond hearings and probable cause hearings. After this, these cases are transferred to Circuit Court for adjudication/
The Probation Officers:
- Enforce orders of the Court
- Ensure fines are paid
- Carry out community service orders
- Meet monthly with persons who have been convicted of criminal offenses and placed on probation
