Historic District Commission

MacArthur Park Historic District

The MacArthur Park Historic District is the only local historic district within the City of Little Rock, which means it is the only place where an application for a Certificate of Appropriateness is required prior to making any change to the exterior of any structure.  To assist you with making an application, the Little Rock Historic District Commission has developed the MacArthur Park Historic District - Guidelines for Rehabilitation and New Construction.  This document follows:

MacArthur Park Historic District
Guidelines for Rehabilitation and New Construction

Sections I & II:  Introduction (Table of Contents) and Historic Preservation in Little Rock
Section III: Architectural Styles
Section III: continued (Architectural Styles)
Section IV: Design Guidelines for Rehabilitation
Sections V - VIII: Design Guidelines for Additions and Alterations; Site Design; Relocation and Demolition; Commercial Structures
Section IX: Appendix
Section IX: continued (Appendix)

The District boundaries are illustrated on the following Map.

The State of Arkansas recently passed a bill for a State Income Tax Credit for the Rehabiliation of Historic Structures.  Contact Tom Marr, Arkansas Historic Preservation Program, at 501-324-9347 for details.
