The man who has been the face of the Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center for 19 years will be honored at a retirement celebration tomorrow Thursday, January 5th at 3:30 p.m. Mayor Mark Stodola and City Manager Bruce Moore will join co-workers of Charles Humphrey as they recall the highlights of his distinguished career.

“We are sad to see Charles leave after 38 years with the City,” said Moore. “He leaves behind a legacy of integrity and hard work that has a lasting impact on everyone he came in contact with during his almost four decades as an employee.”

Humphrey started working for the City in 1973 and held many positions within the Parks and Recreation Department. He was asked to be the Director of the Jim Dailey Fitness and Aquatic Center in 1992 and has been there ever since.

“There are more than 200,000 visitors to the Dailey Fitness Center each year,” said Parks and Recreation Department Director Truman Tolefree. “The success of the Fitness Center is synonymous with Charles Humphrey.”

The retirement celebration will be held on the basketball court at the Dailey Fitness Center and a reception will follow.
