Little Rock park, Fourche Creek, gets mentioned as one of the 101 scenic areas in the state to see in Tim Ernst's new book "Arkansas Nature Lover's Guidebook: How to find 101 Scenic Areas in 'The Natural State'".
Little Rock parks are divided into three categories, based upon acreage:
| Metropolitan: | 100+ acres |
| Community: | 20-100 acres |
| Neighborhood: | 5-20 acres |
All Little Rock Parks close at 10 p.m. with the exception of MacArthur and Riverfront which close at midnight. For more information, please call 501-371-4770.
Allsopp Park, on Cantrell and Cedar Hill Road, has become one of Little Rock's most used metropolitan parks. Annual attendance is estimated to be over 10,000. Recreational facilities include a ballfield, tennis courts and a playground as well as a pavilion. Biking and hiking trails are located throughout the park. Map to Park
MacArthur Park, at 9th and McAlmont, is the city's oldest municipal park. This historic downtown parkhouses the Arkansas Arts Center and MacArthur Museum of Arkansas Military History. Outdoor facilities include brick promenades, a pavilion, available for rental, a boccie court and the scenic Contemplation Gardens. Map to Park
Murray Park, on Rebsamen Park Road, is one of the hottest park spots, especially during the summer. Along side the Arkansas River, it has eight busy pavilions, three soccer fields, two playgrounds (one handicapped accessible) and a boat dock. Murray Park is also a popular site for numerous fishing tournaments. Map to Park
Riverfront Park, on LaHarpe Boulevard, stretches eleven blocks on the south bank of the Arkansas River in downtown Little Rock. Riverfront Park provides large areas for outdoor events, leisure activities and a glimpse of the state's history. The Belvedere Pavilion and the Sunken Patio area are available for rental. It's also home to many exciting concerts at the Riverfest Amphitheatre. Map to Park
