Maintenance Division

Maintenance Division Mission Statement:

The Fleet Services Maintenance Division mission is to respond to the City's fleet needs for vehicle and equipment services using creativity, flexibility, training depth, and technical expertise in performing simple or complex analysis, with total focus on program analysis, cost tracking, customer satisfaction, and quality workmanship.

Walter Ederle is the Fleet Maintenance Manager and is responsible for overseeing all shops and ensuring compliance with City Policy, as well as State and Federal Regulations. Mr. Ederle can be reached via e-mail at wederle@littlerock.org, or by phone at (501) 918-4208.

Fleet Maintenance Central Facility:

Fleet Services Central Maintenance Facility is located on J.E. Davis Drive in Little Rock and houses the fire shop, tire shop, heavy-duty truck shop, light-duty sedan shop, small engine shop, welding shop and a paint and body shop.  The hours of operation are 7:00 AM until 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, and closed on major holidays.  This facility is open around the clock immediately before, during and immediately after inclement weather incidents in order to ensure City vehicles are properly equipped to continue providing services to the citizens of Little Rock.

Along with the major duties performed at this Central Facility are the additional responsibilities of vehicle up fitting, which is the technical function of turning a newly acquired vehicle into a service ready Emergency Response Unit.  This is an extensive service function that includes installing and programming the video camera and computer systems, and installing Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and prisoner containment equipment.  This essential and critical function is one of the hallmarks of quality service, which previously was only performed by outside contracted specialty agencies at a much greater expense to the City.  Such achievements are made possible through the Fleet Services Department's commitment for continuing quality services through innovation and efficiency.

Mike McDonald and Mike Williams are the Service Coordinators for this facility. They can be reached via e-mail at mmcdonald@littlerock.org and mwilliams@littlerock.org, or by phone at (501) 918-4240.

Satellite Facilities:

The Fleet Services Department has a satellite maintenance facility located at the City Landfill.  This Fleet Services operation provides on-site service solely to the Public Works Solid Waste Division's fleet of on and off-road vehicles.  The Solid Waste Division fleet consists of over 140 units, including an assortment of large earthmovers (dozers, excavators, articulating dump trucks) as well as the City's sanitation units.  All sanitation units are serviced at the Landfill maintenance facility.  This facility operates on a five (5)-day, and sometimes six (6)-day, per week schedule.  Facility hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

AJ James is the Service Coordinator for the facility and can be reached via e-mail at
ajames@littlerock.org or by phone at (501) 888-5081.

Richard Reddin is the Parts Clerk for this facility.  He can be reached by phone at (501) 888-5943, or by e-mail at rreddin@littlerock.org

Fuel Services:

The City of Little Rock now provides Compressed Natural Gas fueling services to the public and City fleet units, at our CNG station located at the corner of 6th and Ferry Streets in Downtown Little Rock.  Additionally, City fleet units can utilize the Diesel and Unleaded fueling services at the CNG station or any of the other eight (8) City of Little Rock fueling stations.

Changus Bell is the Fuel System Tech and is responsible for ensuring fuel is available for all City Departments and ensuring compliance to all City policies and State and Federal regulations regarding purchasing, storage and distribution of fuel. He monitors eight (8) fuel sites located conveniently throughout the City for access by all City Departments. Mr. Bell can be reached via e-mail at cbell@littlerock.org, or by phone at (501) 918-4203.
