L.R. SUMMER JOBS ALLIANCE SEEKING EMPLOYERS FOR AREA YOUTH
The City of Little Rock’s Summer Jobs Alliance is seeking private employers to hire or sponsor a youth this summer.
Assistant City Manager Bryan Day noted, “The City’s summer jobs program has been in place for many years. Our goal is to provide a positive work experience to as many young people as possible in an effort to develop good employability skills for the future.”
“Many of these young people will be working for the first time,” Day continued. “So we ask employers to provide some guidance to the employee. Summer employment is a great opportunity to help shape the future of an eager teenager by providing 32 hours of work per week at $7.25 per hour; this comes to approximately $1,400.00 for the summer.”
The youth participate in a mandatory one week training prior to their start date that the City will provide. The City will provide each young employee with a trained collegiate mentor to oversee the participant's work experience. In addition the City can also cover the required workers' compensation insurance.
For additional, contact Bryan Day at 501-371-4510 or Marq Golden, the program coordinator, at 399-3442.
