This is part of a series of updates from Mayor Mark Stodola addressing various topics of interest to the citizens of Little Rock.

Message from the Mayor

TOMORROW IS ELECTION DAY, September 11, 2012

Tomorrow is Election Day on the continuation of Little Rock’s millage for street and drainage improvements.  This is a continuation of a capital improvements millage that has been in place in Little Rock continuously since 1958.  The City is proposing to REDUCE the ad valorem tax burden on real property from 3.3 mils down to 3 mils, which if passed, will give us $105 million dollars to spend exclusively on street and drainage problems throughout the city.  Since 1958 thousands of citizens have voted FOR this millage as a way to improve our roads and fix drainage and flooding problems.

Once passed, along with the sales tax dedicated for street and drainage improvements, the city will have nearly $22 million dollars to spend on street and drainage needs in each one of our 7 wards.  We will also be setting aside 10% of the monies for projects that cross multiple ward boundaries or have a general impact on residents throughout the city.

This is NOT a new tax, but is actually a REDUCTION in the existing tax rate.  I hope you will agree with the hundreds of people who are a part of the “Keep Building Little Rock’s Future Committee” who know what a tremendous benefit this will be to our citizens and to improving our city.  Please exercise your right to vote on this important issue on, Tuesday, SEPTEMBER 11th.  You can also EARLY VOTE TODAY across the street from City Hall.

Thank you,

Mayor Mark Stodola
